Membership of the AHI offers many opportunities for advancing your
career:
Extensive networks:
Membership of the AHI allows you to link up with colleagues across
all areas of the social housing sector in Australia and New Zealand
and to tap into a wealth of experience and perspectives, both on
policy issues and practical situations. The AHI brings together
a wide range of people from across the sector and encourages the
exchange of views and experience that is vital to the development
both of social housing as a sector, as well as the individuals within
that sector.
Building links:
Through the development of member networks, the AHI will help to
create links between the public and non-government social housing
sectors as well as with private providers engaged in social housing.
Good practice:
Promotion of professional standards and good practice in social
housing is a key objective of the AHI. The AHI will take a strong
role in developing and identifying resources to assist practitioners
as well as fostering debate on appropriate standards and practice
issues.
The AHI will advocate on these issues and through this aims to
foster the growth of the social housing profession and allow you
to play a part in developing and delivering effective social housing
solutions. The AHI can give you the information, training and support
you need as a social housing practitioner and recognises your professional
skills and experience.
Forum for debate:
Using the internet, the AHI can connect members across Australia
and New Zealand and host vibrant and challenging discussions on
a whole range of issues relevant to members. There is also the opportunity
to meet with colleagues in person for topic-specific seminars or
regular local discussion groups. The AHI will provide forums where
members from all parts of the sector can participate as equals in
addressing the issues that affect our housing systems and impact
on the communities we work with.
Career opportunities:
Formal recognition of your skills and experience through AHI membership
will provide a common basis for recognition across all social housing
sectors, right across Australia and New Zealand - truly Australasian
recognition. The AHI is also the perfect vehicle for recruiting
social housing workers and we aim to become a key advertiser of
employment opportunities in the sector.
