Professional Recognition: Entry Requirements

Certificate of Housing Practice – Entry Requirements

To obtain the Certificate of Housing Practice housing professionals must:

  • Be members of the AHI;
  • Sign up to the AHI’s Code of Conduct;
  • Commit to the Continuing Professional Development Program;
  • Satisfy one of the following criteria

    • Hold a qualification recognised by the AHI;
    • Satisfy the competence standards through experience;
    • Be invited to apply as a distinguished housing professional;
    • Be a member of a designated professional association.

Qualifications

Recognition is offered to housing professionals who have been awarded a qualification recognised by the Australasian Housing Institute.

The AHI currently recognises the following courses as the qualifications required to obtain a Certificate of Housing Practice:

  • N079 Graduate Certificate of Social Science (Housing Management and Policy) Swinburne University
  • N0807Graduate Diploma of Social Science (Housing Management and Policy) Swinburne University

Experience

Recognition through the experience route will be available to housing professionals in July 2011. This route comprises:

  • written evidence that the candidate meets the competence standards as described in the AHI’s competency framework;
  • structured feedback from colleagues;
  • evidence of continuing professional development;
  • an interview, if required.

Invitation to distinguished housing professionals

Recognition through this route is by invitation only from the AHI’s Board of Directors.

Membership of designated professional associations

Recognition through this route will be available in September 2011.
