Member Benefits and Discounts

In April 2003 the Australasian Housing Institute joined an alliance of associations, known as the National Building & Surveying Alliance (NBSA). To attract any special services or discounts for members, suppliers generally require a membership base of 10,000 or more.

Since most of the associations in Australia have far less members, it was recognised that the only way to provide additional benefits to members was to form a consortium of associations - the NBSA.

The AHI has joined the NBSA to be able to provide special benefits to its members, something it could not do on its own. Access to the discounts and special services is only available to members in Australia at this time. We are working on access forNew Zealand members, including obtaining special disounts for services in New Zealand.

Full details, including special account numbers are contained within the NBSA Booklet - which is only available to financial members of the AHI. For a copy of the booklet, please contact the AHI Office or go to the Members' Only area of the website

About the NBSA

The National Building and Surveying Alliance (NBSA) was officially formed on 26th November 1999 by the:

  • Australian Institute of Building
  • Australian Institute of Building Surveyors
  • Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors
  • Institution of Surveyors, Australia

Since that launch of the NBSA, other associations have joined the alliance, including The Australasian Urban & Regional Information Systems Association, the Institution of Engineering and Mining Surveyors Australia, the Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry Association of Australasia, the Australian Property Institute and most recently the Australasian Housing Institute.

The NBSA is a cooperative of these Institutes and was formed for the primary purpose of providing the members of each Institute with the best possible service and benefits. Additionally, the NBSA aims to maximize the resources of each Institute and provide a vehicle for joint activities and mutual cooperation of a non political nature. The NBSA is not a lobby group; lobbying being performed by each Institute in their own right as appropriate or as part of industry councils or peak bodies. The combined membership of the NBSA member Institutes is over 24,000.
