THINK TANK: The challenges of effectively linking social housing with human services. WA Branch Networking Event
The Western Australian Branch would like to invite you to Think Tank, a networking event for AHI members and friends. Think Tanks are a vehicle to generate conversation amongst the ‘right people’ around an existing issue, difficulty or problem faced by or within the social housing sector that requires a solution. Through collaborative discussion, Think Tanks seek to define the problem, consider why it is happening and determine what can be done about it. During the event participants will discuss challenges of effectively linking social housing with human services.
As an ideal, seamless partnerships between social housing providers and human services, including support services and homelessness service, exist to:
- help tenants sustain tenancies
- link social housing with broader support services
- assist tenants to improve their economic participation and provide skills to help them to exit the social housing system.
In actuality, challenges exist to effectively and seamlessly link social housing with human services and partnerships between social housing and human services may be under-utilised or fragmented.
This Think Tank aims to promote conversation and idea sharing between social housing providers, support services providers and homelessness service providers about the extent of the issue, why it is happening, and what can be done to more effectively link social housing with human services.
