The Australasian Housing Institute Announces Executive Officer Transition

It is with mixed feelings I advise you that Kelly Badewitz has decided to step down as the AHI’s Executive Officer in February next year. Whilst I know that Kelly feels a tinge of sadness after nearly 12 years of loyal and excellent service to the AHI, she has made her decision so that she can commit more time to her family.

On behalf of the AHI Board, I would like to salute Kelly’s passion and commitment to the AHI during her 12 years of service and acknowledge her important contribution to shaping the organisation as it is today. Thankyou Kelly!

On a personal note, it has been my privilege to work closely with Kelly for the past 6 years during which time I have enjoyed her loyal support, amazing energy, and valued friendship. I know that Kelly’s longstanding AHI colleagues, Lisa, Donella, Olena and Emma resoundingly agree!

The future

Whilst I’m sad about Kelly’s departure in February, I’m also very excited about the opportunity it presents to the AHI moving forward. Given Kelly’s generous period of notice, the Board has taken the opportunity to carefully consider the AHI’s increasingly important role and the challenges that we face in supporting housing professionals and contributing to a vibrant and professional social and affordable housing sector.

The AHI is in a strong position and the Board has analysed what our organisation will need to take us forward and prosper, and to grow our support for members and the broader sector across Australia and New Zealand.

As a result we have created a new ‘Chief Executive’ role to lead the organisation into the future. This role has a specific focus on strategic partnerships, organisational growth, and member value. Recruitment to fill the new Chief Executive position will commence shortly to ensure that we appoint the right person with the appropriate mix of skills, experience and passion for our sector. The Chief Executive will also lead our excellent support team of staff and contractors who will continue to deliver their important work.

Please direct any questions regarding this exciting development to me and I look forward to keeping you informed as we progress.
